Religious Bodies is an international research network that brings together research projects on the histories of bodies in religion. So far, we have focussed on Christianities in Western Europe, primarily in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The Religious Bodies team presented their latest research at the European Social Science History Conference at the University of Gothenburg, alongside long-time collaborators and friends Professor Mary Heimann and Dr Natalia Núñez Bargueño. It was a successful discussion on the modern history of martyrs.
November 2022
In November, Religious Bodies set out to map out the unique archive of Sister Rumolda of Herentals. This collection has now found a new home in our very own Ruusbroec Institute, where it will be made accessible to researchers.
